How big is Sirenia where your at?

How big is Sirenia's name where you live at?

I don't know to be honest. Sirenia are about as big as Octavia Sperati over here.

They are big enough to tour over here. But do they have there name everywhere I look? No. The metal scene for France is still growing. After all how many french metal bands can you think of?

Lets see, Sirenia is not very well known by people, and they don't have much fans, but wich metal band has? perhaps Nightwish or Epica are the only ones...

They aren't looking for that, they look to play what THEY like, and what WE like, and that's the most important.

It's not necessary to be well known to be a great band, and to make great songs.

No offense tooken. Only good ones we have are Interria and Eths. Nightwish, Epica, and if you count WT are pretty much the only big names in metal. But I don't mean to make anyone angry but they aren't original. I'm gald that Sirenia hasn't sold out yet. But this topic didn't imply that you had to be welll known to be famous.

They aren't known....but there are some people who worship Morten...
but with the relase of the 13th floor they are more known and on the mediashop of an important magazine there is a CD by them

Metal is almost non-existant over here. So Sirenia isn't big at all.

Just people who likes gothic metal knows who they are, but they don't have a lot of fans around here.

yes.. it's not good.. they are a band so great... there are lots of untalented band with lot of success!!!!! IT ISN'T RIGHT!

Big. You may not know this but black metal is from Norway. A band like Sirenia is big big.

Here when I meet someone who askes me about my favourite band and I answer Sirenia they look at me as I'm mad

At least you can buy the albums. I have to download or orde them on-line. Not a single store sells any of the cds here.

Sirenia cd's are sold here, but i have never heard any of my metal friends to say any word of Sirenia, and they have no idea of who they are if i speak bout them. I quess biggest problem for Sirenia to get well known is the amount of same kind of bands, and quess the eternal singer change wont help it either, they kind lost their credit everytime they loose the singer

That's another interesting question, why they dont keep singers for long time, there must be topic 'bout that somewhere!

Actually we don't . Fabienne was a session member only. Henriette left to be with her friends. Monika left because the music wasn't meant for her voice. I guess everyone on here never really thought about it. Now I want to start a topic about it. Thankx for the idea!

Most of the people I grew up with are interested in metalcore, but that is the extent of their forays into the scene. For female-fronted bands, Evanescence and Lacuna Coil had their day, along with Nightwish...I even find the occasional Within Temptation fan. But bands like Tristania and Sirenia? I promote them as much as possible and tell friends about them, but sadly no one has taken much of an interest....

I hope Morten will conquer the US eventually! Our overall music situation here sucks!

Your not too far from me. And I'm lucky to even find a Evanescence fan. Maybe that will paint you a picture of how big Sirenia is where I'm at.

Ok, things have changed since this post was created. When I talk to people who like metal, they usually know Sirenia, a thing that didn't use to happen.

Moreover, since Ailyn got to the band, their popularity has increased a lot. You can check this in Youtube for example. When "The path to Decay" videoclip was released, "My mind's eye" or "The other side" videoclips had about 700.000 views in Youtube and they had been there for two years. Now, "The path to decay" has been in YT almost two years, and it has almost 7 million views, which means that the video is 10 times more popular than the other two used to be. (Despite the fact that since ThePathToDecay was released, the views of the other two videos increased, too).

So I think that in the last two years, Sirenia's popularity has increased a lot, and now they are much bigger than they used to. We will have to check the results with their new album, where for the first time they kept the singer. And we will have to check the marketing campaign by Nuclear Blast record, because to make a band big, they have to tour a lot, haver their videoclips in several music channels, talk about them in magazines, shoot more than one videoclip (much people know about a band from what they watch in Youtube, so the more videoclips the more popularity)... Let's see what 2011 brings to the band!!
